A long HOT month!!
I can't believe that I missed an entire month of blogging... I must say that I've missed my outlet but in my defense I have been too busy for words!(Although I did manage to find a little time to write my local paper and bitch about the G8 Summit) The pregnancy is going as planned.. I'm just really done at this point(even with 3 months left)..ready to meet my little girl and ready to get onto the next duty station and the next stage of our lives!
My husband is itching to get to Bragg and to get that 82nd combat patch.. I'm just ready to move someplace that isn't as hot as southern Georgia... do people really live here by choice? Holy shit.. I've never been so hot in my life and I have a pool in the backyard!! No thanks! North Carolina isn't exactly Canada but it's much nicer weather from what I remember! So back to that combat patch... isn't it funny that some guys are headed to Iraq for their second and third times and others have managed to avoid it for 3 years now... no Afghanistan, no Iraq... we know garrison guys and instructors that have done all they can to get assignments that don't deploy and you'd think the Army would get smart about it at some point and throw these jackasses on the line in a deployable unit... although my husband says that he doesn't want some cherry ass in his squad or platoon... he's so funny! He also says that when the promotion boards meet, not having been in combat is a huge negative.. so we'll see... he goes before the E7 board in Jan so we'll see if his theory holds up amongst the guys he knows with combat and without.. It will be his first look at 7 so I'm not expecting much but he's been in just 8 years so even of he makes it within the next 2 he's still well ahead of schedule! My best friend's husband just took over as First Sgt (with only 13 years in-super fast) and I know Erik will do as well.. these guys are Alpha military guys..amazing soldiers- the military should be proud!!!
I wasn't excited at first to move back to Bragg (too many bad memories) but I've since been in contact with quite a few friends from Italy that are now there so things are changing a little! I guess I didn't know that so many had come back stateside...or are coming back in the spring! I had been hoping at one point to get back to Italy but I refuse to do it with an infant. I loved Italy and traveling and drinking wine in the square with my friends and I just couldn't do that with a baby... Also if we're going back I want my kids to remember things.. I want them to experience a lot and not just see pictures of places they've been! So off to Bragg we go.. I always joke with my husband that we will probably never leave b/c by the time we get done doing all of his career stuff it will be time for him to take over as division sgt major...lol... hey as long as I get one of those big beautiful houses I don't care!!
SO that's enough for now!! I just want to give a big congrats to our friends the O's who had a beautiful baby girl on Monday Aug 1 a few weeks early! We can't wait to see her labor day weekend(or the FSU/Miami game for that matter..lol) You're going to be great parents!!!
