My daughter arrived at 3:39 am Oct 25 and I have to say is the most beautiful thing alive (ok besides my husband and son).. she has dark hair with red streaks in it and the most gorgeous complexion...I am, I admit, totally biased! Her name is Patton RHYS (not Grace moron) and her middle name is in honor of her Welsh grandad... Ok so that's the good... the bad now... of course who do I run into as I'm getting off the elevator at the OB ward the day I'm getting induced? That's right folks... my ex-husband and the lunatic he married! Of course, she muttered something about Jesus Christ (I'm flattered that she thinks I'm that special) and I laughed all the way down the hall.. even running into the idiot duo couldn't ruin my morning!! One would hope that she was there to have her tubes tied so that there are no more of them out there...but who knows..maybe she was there to bring me flowers...lol...
I did find out a few things recently... that when people are not who they seem that others will find out the truth!! If you keep your mouth shut and let people self destruct on their own in the end it's a better for everyone(except of course the person self-destructing)... when I came to Columbus 2 years ago I knew things weren't going to be easy with my ex right around the corner...I didn't really have too many problems with him(besides the obvious) but there were others involved that I didn't look forward to seeing at all.. I found out someone was reading my email and imitating my life and I couldn't understand why... I mean I'm not a bad person but there's really nothing too special about me... it's true I have a fantastic husband, a nice home, beautiful kids but come on there's a lot of people out there like that (ok at least people I know)... I didn't and don't to this day understand why I would be the object of someone's time, effort, and attention! Why would someone join the clubs I joined, read my email(and blog), drive past my house, and make every effort possible to know as much about me as possible? Talk about lunatic stalker central... and this isn't me jumping to conclusions..all these things which I suspected have been confirmed by others..others that are sick of the lies..others that hate the drama..others that have gotten to know that I'm not such a bad person that certain persons make me out to be! My husband and I decided to turn down orders to Italy b/c after we started telling people that's where we were going guess who decided to go there? Yeah that's right.. the idiot duo... it was all for the best though b/c we found out we were pregnant, my brother died, and being closer to home was much more of a priority...besides Italy with a baby wouldn't be as much fun as before!! Others can learn that the hard way...
So what's the point of today's blog you might ask? The point is this... certain people need to get lives of their own... they need to focus on their shaky marriages... they need to stop trying to fill others shoes... they need to quit making up lies about their lives and mine... they need to move on as I have tried! They need to learn to be a good mom and wife and FRIEND to others...they need to stop obsessing about people they don't know(namely me, my husband, certain ex army captains) and the past and I would recommend LOADS of therapy(although some may say she's beyond help).. so I'd like to end this right here... no more blogging for me at this site..no more allowing someone personal access into my life...no more feeding the animal... buh bye psycho bitch... parting is such sweet sorrow NOT oh and I hope that all the bad things you've ever done and said about me come back to bite you in your big ugly ass....

I know I know

Yeah yeah yeah I've been a slacker.. though in my defense I have some good reasons!! This pregnancy has about wiped me out and in addition to never checking my email, I haven't been blogging at all either... I've not been doing much with my MOMS club or going to post much (and on the plus side not running into people I don't like much) so there have been some positives!!Although the few people I don't like seem to turn up everywhere... I'm waiting for them to be in the delivery room with me when Patton arrives!!! SO I'm in the final 2 weeks now..I'm due exactly 2 weeks from today and my Dr has told me that if she feels things are progressing at this week's appointment then she'll consider inducing a few days early...thank GOD!! I'm friggin' miserable!! ALthough, my husband continues to lie to me and say that I'm the most beautiful pregnant girl ever (and in my defense I've only gained 15 lbs and I am not swollen at all) I feel at this point that there is no bigger creature out there(uglier yes..bigger no)... so any help would be welcome at getting this child out of me... I had some good contractions earlier today but I'm convinced that it was me yelling at Bama to move the friggin' ball down the field against Ole Miss (something they didn't do well today) and not so much my body wanting to give birth!! I had a few during the Notre Dame game as well... those damn fighting irish almost had it... I hate working myself into a frenzy during college football but I just can't seem to help it... Bama's next game is Tennessee and we'd better kick those sorry Volunteers butts FINALLY!! UT and Auburn are the only wins that really matter... and Lord I hate those obnoxious fans!! I had to dress my son in orange for a class trip the other day and since I've banned the color from my house I had to run around and try to find something at the last minute and you know what? Every damn orange shirt around here was either UT or Auburn... no Halloween shirts...not cute pumpkin shirts.... and I'll be damned if I was putting him in some tacky college shirt.. the only people that look good in orange are hooters girls...and even that's debatable here in Columbus...
So my CRIMSON TIDE moved to 6-0 with an ugly win but hey they w-l column is all that really counts now isn't it?? SO no more news for now... going to watch my husband get drunk and curse at the FSU/UVA game... I'll be with him on the couch in a few weeks having a beer.. CAN'T WAIT!!! Wish me luck!!

The blame game of Hurricane Katrina!!

Its been a while since I've blogged..just haven't had much time lately with this baby getting bigger and family coming to visit!! I had a nice visit this past week with my mother-in-law (who I adore), her mother, my sister-in-law, and Gavin's cousin. We spent the week relaxing and telling stories and sitting by our pool. Last Thurs we went up to the Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain and had an absolute blast. That place is crazy.
I've been trying to do what I can to stay away from the TV and all this Hurricane Katrina mess... I think it's hilarious that there are people out there that think the President caused the hurricane due to his environmental policies and that people seem to think that it's his fault they didn't evacuate when they were told to. If anyone dropped the ball it was the mayor of New Orleans and the Gov of Louisiana... I wasn't aware that the president was supposed to have an evacuation plan for the states...that's the local govt's job... his job is to ok federal funding if need be... and he did that!! People were told to LEAVE New Orleans.. the mayor should have had buses AHEAD of time to transport people out if they wanted to leave... then there would be NO excuse... but instead once again the blacks in this country want to play the blame game!! Let's blame the president for not saving us..let's blame the white man b/c we're poor..let's blame everyone else for our problems and not do a damn thing to help ourselves.. it makes me SICK!!! I am sorry for the loss of so many people but I saw that hurricane churning in the gulf for DAYS before it hit... personal possessions aren't enough for me to risk my life... if I didn't have the money to take a bus out I would've walked as far as I could in the 4 days of warning ahead of time and camped on the side of the road if need be... I certainly wouldn't have sat around and waited for the levies to break and then depended on the government to rescue me... Also being a military wife it pissed me off to NO end that people wanted to know why soldiers weren't in there within hours of the storm hitting and the levies breaking.. I've got news for those MORONS... my husband doesn't sit around and wait for natural disasters to hit so he can go rescue people.. it's called a CALL UP and it takes about 18-36 hours to get manpower, equipment, and supplies... and that's about what it took... Also, if someone chooses to STAY behind during a storm why should my husband have to go and expose himself to diseased water to save others... his job is to defend this country not to save morons... it's called survival of the fittest and smartest...IF you choose to do something stupid then others should not put their lives in harms way to rescue you!! And that's all I have to say about that!!!
On a happier note- Auburn lost its first game of the season and BAMA's 2-0... hubby and I went to the FSU/Miami game in Tallahassee and had a blast! It was one of the ugliest games I've ever seen but the outcome was good with the Noles prevailing... seems like a great start to college football season... ciao for now

boring

I went to a MOMS thing tonight with the group that I'm in and the discussion turned to 80's music...mainly this Rock Star INXS thing that I've become addicted to. How does it happen? I am cursing people under my breath( mostly JD) and the fact that ok so he's cute but he can't carry a tune to save his life yet people keep voting for him!! Rock on Jordis, Marty and Mig !! I just feel like whoever goes in really has some major shoes to fill with Michael Hutchence being dead and JD is NO MH..not even close!!
Still not much going on in south GA except sweating my ass off.. I like Columbus but can't wait to get the hell out of here! Too hot!
The wild hoot owl started school last week... thank God.. he's absolutely doing wonderful! Already mom can see major changes... he listens so much better...responds more... he's the youngest in his class and the teacher says he's months ahead of many of them!! Woohoo no question I did the right thing! In a few weeks we start his gym program...
so it's late hope all are doing great

don't know why??

have no idea why there's such a large gap in this blog.. I must say that I've missed my outlet but in my defense I have been too busy for words!(Although I did manage to find a little time to write my local paper and bitch about the G8 Summit) The pregnancy is going as planned.. I'm just really done at this point(even with 3 months left)..ready to meet my little girl and ready to get onto the next duty station and the next stage of our lives!
My husband is itching to get to Bragg and to get that 82nd combat patch.. I'm just ready to move someplace that isn't as hot as southern Georgia... do people really live here by choice? Holy shit.. I've never been so hot in my life and I have a pool in the backyard!! No thanks! North Carolina isn't exactly Canada but it's much nicer weather from what I remember! So back to that combat patch... isn't it funny that some guys are headed to Iraq for their second and third times and others have managed to avoid it for 3 years now... no Afghanistan, no Iraq... we know garrison guys and instructors that have done all they can to get assignments that don't deploy and you'd think the Army would get smart about it at some point and throw these jackasses on the line in a deployable unit... although my husband says that he doesn't want some cherry ass in his squad or platoon... he's so funny! He also says that when the promotion boards meet, not having been in combat is a huge negative.. so we'll see... he goes before the E7 board in Jan so we'll see if his theory holds up amongst the guys he knows with combat and without.. It will be his first look at 7 so I'm not expecting much but he's been in just 8 years so even of he makes it within the next 2 he's still well ahead of schedule! My best friend's husband just took over as First Sgt (with only 13 years in-super fast) and I know Erik will do as well.. these guys are Alpha military guys..amazing soldiers- the military should be proud!!!
I wasn't excited at first to move back to Bragg (too many bad memories) but I've since been in contact with quite a few friends from Italy that are now there so things are changing a little! I guess I didn't know that so many had come back stateside...or are coming back in the spring! I had been hoping at one point to get back to Italy but I refuse to do it with an infant. I loved Italy and traveling and drinking wine in the square with my friends and I just couldn't do that with a baby... Also if we're going back I want my kids to remember things.. I want them to experience a lot and not just see pictures of places they've been! So off to Bragg we go.. I always joke with my husband that we will probably never leave b/c by the time we get done doing all of his career stuff it will be time for him to take over as division sgt major...lol... hey as long as I get one of those big beautiful houses I don't care!!
SO that's enough for now!! I just want to give a big congrats to our friends the O's who had a beautiful baby girl on Monday Aug 1 a few weeks early! We can't wait to see her labor day weekend(or the FSU/Miami game for that matter..lol) You're going to be great parents!!!

too long

So it's been a while since I've written... sorry about that! I've been spending a lot of time in Atlanta with family trying to cope a bit with this pregnancy and the heat and it's nice to have the folks nearby to help with my son.. he's wilder than a hoot owl at this stage and sometimes I just need a bit of a break! I feel bad for the hubby sweating his ass off at Airborne school and I know there's been a few heat casualties..one soldier even died... but the moral of the story is if you don't drink water and take care of yourself well it happens.. my friends joke that my husband is the most well hydrated man on the planet.. I'd have to agree and I wish that I could drink that much water but how I look at it, he drinks a lot of beer too so he needs the extra hydration!
So, my husband reenlisted last week! At first I had some mixed feelings with all the crap going on in Iraq but I'm a firm believer that if I take him away from this (and it's something that he really loves) someday he will resent me for it..also I have always thought that when it's your time it's your time...getting out of the military b/c I'm worried about my husband getting killed goes against that! I'm a statistics girl and I have to tell myself that there's a better chance dying in a car wreck or of cancer than in Iraq... I mean look at the numbers... sure too many have died at this point and one servicemember killed is too many but for the amount of people over there it's not that big of a number! Americans don't look at the big picture... they feed off the liberal lying media and then get frenzied up over garbage! All these stupid people out there want Bush to outline a plan.. yeah I'm sure that the insurgents would love to hear it as well! Let's give them a timeline with an exact date and tell them, "this is when you can come in b/c Iraq will be at its weakest". I mean are people really that stupid? I guess I should know this by now! Do we want this to end up like the last lift out of Hanoi.. people throwing their kids at servicemembers and hanging onto choppers??
So, this being my hubby's last reenlistment with base of choice, we went where he can get the school he wants and then from there he puts a wish list in for the group he wants... of course we'll try to get back overseas with 10th but we're really at the Army's mercy now for the next 4 years! I have no doubt however that in 12-15 years he will be running division... that would be his ultimate dream... 82nd ABN division CSM... mark my words.. he'll do it! So, it's back to NC in April... I haven't been there since '99 and I must say that the first time it was a miserable experience(of course that might have something to do with an ex husband and friends that sucked) but my love assures me that this time will be better(hmm sounds like he might be deploying..lol)..
Anyways, all else is well with the little kicker and the family! My ultra sounds were fine and I'm just really waiting for this pregnancy to be over! At least we won't have to move while I'm 9 months prego... April gives me time to scout out a place to live, find a renter for this place and talk to some people about preschools.. thank God... well hope all of you are well.. remember to pray for our troops.. and to my sweet E..happy 28th.. I love you with all that I am!!

Happy D-Day

So just wanted to get in a Happy 61st D-Day to all... A year ago my husband jumped into Normandy with the 507th and had such an amazing experience. I hope to go back with him someday. He said that the only downfall to the trip was there were so many ceremonies and so many press and VIPs that he didn't really get to see all that he wanted... so we'll go back with Gavin and Patton..somehow seems appropriate with our 2 kids named after WWII Generals...
So it's looking like Bragg is up next for us... hubby is in SF mode and I have to say that it's not my favorite post but I don't know if it's b/c I was there with my ex(which was just an all around a bad experience) or b/c Fayetteville sucks! So I figure that since I've changed the entire situation I may grow to love Bragg... we may not be there too long though with school only being 12-18 months and then trying for 10th group... so who knows... I love moving so being somewhere too long really grows tiring..I guess that's why I'm made for this military life!! I really need to get back to Europe very soon though..I miss the shopping and the pubs!
So for family and friends that read this.. my ultrasound went well.. still having a girl and she looked healthy and is measuring great! I just wish it was over tomorrow so I can have a margarita..oh well last one I should enjoy it right??? SO enjoy D-day everyone... thank a veteran or a soldier and remember that the rest of the world owes us one (or two or three)

bad things happen in 3s

Remember the old Irish proverb that bad things happen in threes? Well my life is living proof!! I quit blogging in May because it was a cursed month for me and towards the end I was really contemplating getting into bed and not getting out until June! It started with my husband's great Aunt dying, then my grandfather died, and then last week my brother died at 45 of a massive heart attack! It was devastating to me because I loved him so much and with my blood pressure being high I wasn't able to fly up to Iowa for his funeral. So, I sat at my house in Columbus and cried for a week... cried for my dead brother and his niece that he will never get to know! I cried for my mother and not being able to imagine losing a child..I cried for my grandmother who had just buried her husband of 65 years three weeks earlier... and I cried because Jeff was a good guy and I have so many great memories of him but I wanted so much more!
On top of all this misery, my husband went to walk on at Ranger school on Monday and didn't get in... No... once again the military bends over for officers and even other countries(a Turkish officer got a slot) but over 46 of our own guys walked away without a school that they need in order to be promoted! The military wonders over and over why they aren't retaining middle career NCOs? Are they that fucking stupid? My husband would do just about anything to get the schools he wants and needs to make his rank and help him in his job but the Army keeps giving those slots to cherry Lts and foreign officers..and to Turkish officers? Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't those the same assholes that wouldn't let us enter Iraq through their country? Aren't those the same ones that we had PR problems with b/c they promised not to enter Iraq and then we busted their SF guys doing missions up on the Iraqi border (I know b/c my husband's platoon busted them)..oh yeah but let's train them up and give them slots my husband could have had... it's bullshit.. the US Army needs to pull it's head out of its ass and start addressing the real issues it faces... so with an ATAR slot it looks like July for Ranger school it is.. unless they decided to screw around again..in which case my husband might be looking for another career...
So we're hoping here that June is better...keep your fingers crossed for us... and to all the support and love we've received from family and friends.. thank you so much..we love you all ciao

we're having a ....

Can you believe that May is almost over? We've been counting down the days to Ranger school in my household... buying 2s and 3s of everything...sewing name tapes...spending a lot of time at Ranger Joes... I'm so ready for it to happen already! My husband is ready to go after spending a year and half as an instructor. He can't wait to get in the field and do what he loves to do.. be a GUY!! He hates being a garrison guy and thinks anyone that hasn't gone to war yet doesn't know SHIT! He cracks me up sometimes with the whole HOOAH crap! But he is who he is and I love him for it!
The one thing we did do before his "2 months of Hell" was find out the sex of our baby! The army gives me an ultra-sound in a few weeks but then I knew that I was going to have to keep it a secret until his cycle break. So I went to Atlanta this week and found out... we're having a daughter! We're both happy but he's much more excited than I am! He gets his daddy's little girl! Of course, this explains why I've felt like crap much more than my last pregnancy. Girls will do that to ya!! So, we're doing the name debate for now... I have my favs and he has his.. I'm sure that we'll compromise a few times... I'm just ready for the summer to be over already and this baby to be here! Also, we PCS in the early winter so I want to know exactly what's going on... hubby has to squeeze SFAS in sometime either shortly before or shortly after the birth so we can get a school slot.. so much to do... well I hope that all of you out there are doing well.. and I will keep you posted on my life... ciao

bad times

Have you ever had a week that you just wish would end... and fast?? Thus has been my week... They say that bad things happen in 3s and this week has been proof in the pudding... let me first start by saying that I had a wonderful time with my father-in-law this past week! I really haven't had a chance(in the almost 4 years since I've been with my husband) to bond with him very much b/c he's always working when we're in NY..now with his retirement here we were able to hang out and do some sightseeing and just talk.. it was really nice!
The bad stuff started Saturday morning when we received a phone call that Erik's great Aunt Rita had passed away... totally not expected and more than anything I was expecting it to be a call about my grandfather!! I didn't get the call that my grandfather had passed away until yesterday...we were expecting that but it didn't make it any easier...then today that final straw..my brother went into the hospital last night with breathing problems related to his heart. He hasn't been super healthy in the last few years but it looks like his problems are going to kill him eventually.... hopefully later than sooner! SO all in all not a great week...
I must say that in all of this Erik has been my rock and I don't know what I'd do without him... I am so lucky that I have a partner that understands my hormone swings, the sadness in my life right now, and my stress in raising a toddler... things have got to get better right??
So to all a great week and I will write again when I get the chance..also to all my friends that are moms or moms to be - have a great Mother's Day!! Ciao

news

So much has happened in a few weeks and I feel as if I haven't blogged forever... yesterday was a bad day... My grandfather is in a coma and dying as we speak... he hasn't eaten for 3 days now and he's unresponsive to everything and everyone around him... I am not sad that he's dying... his quality of life for the last few years hasn't been the best and I would rather remember him as the vibrant, cantekerous old man that I grew up loving... I choose to celebrate the life he had rather than his current situation... but I do feel horrible for my grandmother... she and grandpa have been together 70 years... I mean HOLY COW!!! How often are people together that long anymore...they are the inspiration for my marriage! I just feel so bad for her because she is healthy and could probably live for another 5 years... I don't want her giving up on life because he's gone- like so many do! It also makes me a little sad that my grandfather will never meet my second child... he so loved seeing Gavin when we visited and I had just hoped that he made it to the fall so he could meet "number 2"... so things aren't so great for me today and as we wait for the inevitable I just can't help but remember happier times!
SO all else is well here... baby seems to be doing great and I'm getting bigger with each passing day! We had an ultra-sound last week and we're measuring right on for end of Oct.. the baby was moving all over the place and seemed good! I'm just happy that my husband is at least not deployed this time to be able to enjoy the visits with me... although with my mood swings sometimes I bet he wishes he were fighting the insurgents again!!
At least this pregnancy is seems EVERYONE I know is pregnant with me so it's not so tough! Two more friends this week announced their impending births so I think that puts it at 7 for my friends... oh yeah when it rains it pours... after this though mama is DONE! My sister and brother can take up the slack on grandkids... I want to enjoy the 2 I'll have, my life, and my husband! I'm one of those people that can't handle too much on my plate!
So that brings me to that Oprah that was on last week about marriages and children... it was a great show and something could be learned from what was said... the argument was who should be the priority in a family?? Should the kids be first (as is the case in most marriages with kids)? The husband? or you? Well, the proper order according to family specialists is you, your spouse, then your kids!! I have to admit this is something that I TOTALLY agree with! I feel (long before this show and I've stated it to many people I know) that if you don't put yourself and your marriage first- your kids won't benefit in the long run! Too many moms put their childrens needs above everything and everyone else in the family. By doing this, they neglect their marriages, their friendships, and themselves. To me this is teaching the child that personal relationships aren't important and that the kids are the center of the world! Don't get me wrong! I love my child(and soon to be children) but I will not neglect the other relationships (esp my marriage) to make sure that they are always number one! I think kids need to know that they are loved and they need to be given enough self esteem to be able to function in the real world... they need to understand success and with that failure and that having a good marital relationship is possible with a family! Neglecting and ignoring my husbands and my own needs is not teaching them these things!
Not too long ago I had a conversation with someone I love very much about some of these things! This person is a wonderful mother to her child but her marriage sucks and as a person she has completely let herself go! She has spent the last few years throwing everything she has into being a mommy and nothing into relationships... as a result her marriage is crumbling and her relationships with people aren't so great either! I feel so bad that everyone around her sees this and she doesn't b/c I know that with a few changes she could get herself back on track... if she continues to ignore what's going on she will lose everything eventually! Now this is not to say that I am perfect... I strive all the time to get my relationships with people right (esp my husband) and sometimes I fail but I guess more than anything it's the effort you put into these relationships that really counts! I finish by saying you aren't being a good mom if your kids are your entire world and nothing else!
SO enough rambling for today! Pray for my gramps and I hope that everyone has a wonderful week... I may not blog for a few days b/c my wild and crazy poppy-in-law is coming from NY to visit and we have an airborne jump and museums to visit! So until later ciao

CHuckie and Camilla

SO congrats Chuck and Camilla.. the weed wreath in your hair looked like something my brother would smoke and your dress looked like a dirty house coat.. Also might I add that at no point during my wedding did guests board a shuttle... If I were the richest man in England it would have been hot air balloon rides for everyone... Oh well at least you're not cheating on your spouses anymore...
Onto something much more somber... My family and I send our condolences to the Red Devil Families (1/508) who lost their sons, husbands, brothers, and fathers in Tuesdays crash in Afghanistan... My husband jumped into Iraq as a RED DEVIL and the 173rd was our duty station before this so we have many close ties there still! We wish the families strength in God and each other during this horrible time!
So onto my life.. things are a little better! My heartburn is still incontrollable(which has all my friends screaming I'm having a girl) and my insomnia is never ending but I do at least feel a bit better! My husband has been a tremendous help doing all the housework and a lot of the cooking and taking care of G(when he's not working) so I am so thankful for such a wonderful man... we're having dinner out tonight at my favorite restaurant to celebrate the pregnancy... Ahhh a night alone...
So enough for now.. have a wonderful week all... until later ciao

BLAH blog

Life just sometimes gets a wee busy for me to blog! I did not intend to insult or offend anyone.. No one out there has a perfect life and if they say they do then they're lying... I strive every day to be a better wife, mother, friend, daughter, etc.. sometimes I succeed..sometimes I fail miserably... I sometimes forget to be as respectful as I could be..sometimes I'm tired and I snap or esp right now my hormones get the best of me... it's normal to sad or angry or hurt some of the time! It is NOT acceptable to be these things most of the time though! I've snapped at my husband before and I've apologized afterwards b/c I wouldn't want to be treated that way... but when constant disrespect goes on day after day and not just an episode or two it becomes clear to me that help needs to be sought by the offender... couples fight..you can't live with someone day in and day out and not have ups and downs... but you have to remember why you married this person... what made you fall in love.... why you chose this one or God chose him or her for you... there is a reason! If you were offended by what I said maybe you should take a good look at yourself! If I were reading a friend's blog and I had read that- there's nothing in it that would've struck a chord.. there's no trace of me in it b/c I've worked hard at who I've become as a human being... and I like who I am whether there are those of you out there that disagree with me or not... we're not all going to like each other.. we're not always going to agree and get along... sometimes we're going to say hurtful things that have so much truth but need to be said... but take my words for what they are.. a wakeup call...
I had a friend quite a few years back that after hearing me lament(once again) about the sad state of my now former marriage tell me that we are the only ones that control our destinys... I now know that to be true... we can control how we act...who we become... we only make excuses for our bad behavior in the meantime... I had to grow up and take control of my happiness and I'm so glad that I did.. I'm the happiest I've ever been.. I'm more in love than ever... and the future is so bright! SO again if you were offended that was not my intention but if it made you realize something was wrong then maybe that's a good thing!
Also Congrats to the O's I was right... Until the next time ciao

Today's the day

So as the state of Florida starves poor Terri Schiavo to death I sit here and ponder why the world can be so cruel.. if we remove the feeding tube from this woman who was clearly not dying do we then go ahead and starve all invalids and people that can't feed themselves? Do we turn this into a survival of the fittest society and remove any support from those that can't help themselves? I have often deviated from the Republican party by supporting the right to die. I think that an individual should be able to decide when it's a quality of life issue whether or not they should continue on. The government has too much say in my life and my body as it is... if I choose NOT to be a vegetable or have a feeding tube, etc.. it should be my decision whether or not to give up constant care... My issue with the Schiavo case is this.. she has no living will... the courts are taking the word of her husband who 7 YEARS after her collapse mentioned that she didn't want to live like this... 7 YEARS... not one mention to her parents, siblings, or friends of this desire..only to her husband.. a man that has moved on to another woman...has started a new family... a man that has no respect for Terri's BIOLOGICAL family... this is where the problem lies... this man Michael Schiavo took a vow of in sickness and in health and if he wishes to divorce Terri b/c of her state there aren't many out there that would blame him.. HOWEVER, he still chooses to continue guardianship, meddling in her life, etc..with another woman and kids waiting for him at home every day! It makes me sick... I hope to God he get's what he deserves in the end that he doesn't profit off of this poor woman's murder.. and if Michael Schiavo is free then why not Dr Kevorkian? At least his patients physically told him what they wanted...
SO the a.m. sickness hasn't been so bad... I'm more excited to find out today what my best friend is having...she should be calling me anytime now with the news... I'm betting on a girl...but more than anything I want them both to be healthy.. it seems almost everyone is pregnant that I know right now... there are a few more that are trying and a few that are going to be trying real soon... good luck to all!! "tis the season! Pregnancy is such a happy time! Despite the little bit of nausea and being tired it really isn't so bad for me... I think the fact that I am married to the love of my life and the most amazing father in the world (besides my dad of course) helps me.. that of course leads me to my next rant... why do people get pregnant when they're not happy in their marriage? Children are NOT a band aid to fix all the problems in the adult relationship.. I was married once and I did NOT have children specifically b/c we weren't happy for a long time... he begged me for kids and the fact I stood firm was the best thing I could've ever done.. it allowed us both to move on to what we were meant to have! But too many times I see people that get this schedule of children in their heads... you know the "we want kids aprox 2 years apart"couples.. A lot can happen in those years between kids and if you're not happy when it's time to get pregnant again then you should get counseling and put number 2 off! There are people in my life that I love dearly and I'm seriously concerned for the state of their lives... these are people that are great parents to the child they have but it's obvious to EVERYONE around them that their marriage is in grave danger.. there is NO respect and very little love between them... there is constant nagging and put downs and it hurts to be around them! It makes me sad that two people that once loved each other have resorted to this.. I feel that marital problems are no ones business..Lord knows I had enough people commenting on the state of my former marriage to sink a ship... In fact it annoys me to all end when people that didn't know either of us then act like they were there... but when 2 people are fighting in public in front of friends, family, etc... I think it's time for the people that love them to step in and say enough... for your child's sake get some counseling.... for both of your sakes get some help... is it obvious to everyone but them that they can give their kid everything in the world..every toy...every game...but if they don't give him or her a happy family and parents that respect and love each other then they AREN'T doing their kid a damn bit of good! No marriage is perfect... but it will be a cold day in hell when I disrespect my husband in front of our kids! I just say this.. maybe you're hitting a bad patch right now, maybe your jobs suck, maybe parenthood is a bit overwhelming... that's normal.. so work on it! We're rooting for you to get better and heal what you have! Just don't bring another kid into the mix until you've figured some things out... that isn't fair to anyone involved!
To Alica and Antony I can't wait to find out.. to the S's congrats and I can't wait to meet Sam... and to all my friends and family I love and miss you.. hope your Easter was wonderful! I returned yesterday- exhausted- and felt I needed to take a vacation to get over my vacation... only once in my life have I felt like this and my son was the culprit (actually it wasn't completely his fault he was baking away).. so I started doing a checklist in my head..bad skin..check...sore boobies...check..check...tired all the time... uhhh check..inablility to eat pork....hmmm...what's going on with me?? Today I found out the answer... number 2 is on the way... my fire team will be halfway done in October.. seems to be a lucky month for us and I have a bunch of clothes still from number 1...also it seems like something is in the water b/c I am one of about 3 people I know that wan't pregnant (well until today..b/c I wasn't pregnant until I found out) so it's off to find the perfect name... to catch up on sleep...to ruin the kid I have(just kdding) how the hell did my mom do this?

Sex and the city

So a week from today is my favorite holiday- St Patty's Day!! This year I will be celebrating in my favorite American city- New York City -with my extended family and I CAN'T WAIT!!! I'm taking G in to the city to see some of the parade and then mommy's going to visit her Irish friends and have some adult time (no comments about this please- if you don't drink on St Patty's day you're a GIANT PRUDE and need to get a life!!).. of course next wednesday I will be in the studio audience of The View with my mom..I'm so excited- I will be wearing a green striped shirt- look for me!! And then it's on to the wedding north of the city and the reception in CT.. we're so excited that our friend Dave is finally settling down with the right girl and we can't wait to go up and party with them for their wedding!! It's going to be a blast!
So not much else going on! The hubby just returned from 7 days of camping out with his BNCOC class... I miss him too much when he leaves... his class ends soon and I'm thinking cookout for this weekend! Our pool is fixed and it's a little chilly but some polar bear swimming sounds nice!! Oh well! Hello to all and Jana come and visit me again soon! I have so much fun when you're here! A- take care of you and that baby! Put your feet up! Peace and chicken grease!

Ramblings

OK I know that the three things you're not supposed to discuss with friends are politics, religion, or sex but I discuss all three openly and I think that if you can't have a conversation about all three with your friends then what good are they? I love it when my friends and I have differences in opinions about things and they can argue their view point so that I am a little more open to how they think (of course they can never change my mind entirely!!).. it makes us all better humans to know the plight of the overly liberal or the devoutly religious... I would like to think that I am a fairly open minded human being (it's called being progressive and tolerant) but I have to admit that along with my disliking ignorant people pet peeve(no one should be THAT tolerant), I'm really not a big fan of people that are too preachy either (and lord I'm surrounded by those).. have an opinion -great...but don't quote scripture to me and tell me what God said- because your interpretation and my interpretation can be totally different.. don't believe me? Sit in on a Baptist Bible study one day and a Catholic one the next.. night and day! I tend to find that so many people that claim to be such great and wonderful Christians are the biggest HYPOCRITES on the planet..and they way they pour on the shame and judgment..wow.. I wasn't aware that those were good Christian qualities... I have my beliefs..I'm good with God (I know there's those of you out there that feel the need to pray for my lost soul but please don't) I am happy and satisfied with my life and I know that if I die in the next 5 minutes I have made my peace with the right people! Thanks so much though...
So I know that I have quite a few friends out there that read my blogs(guys you know that there's a comment button at the bottom of this blog- you don't have to respond to my email..lol) and I thank you all for your personal feedback! This is an easier way of letting you know what's going on with my life than writing 40 emails a day! Unfortunately this is a public site so sometimes I get people I don't really care reading my stuff on here as well! So if I don't like you- well you shouldn't be reading this...lol..GO AWAY!!
I've been getting the question asked a lot "Where is your next duty station after Benning?"... Not to be a coy pain in the ass like some people I know I will answer this question to the best of my knowledge and not tell people "well we know but we're not saying..." why the fuck would I not say? I'm not weird for God's sake!!!It's not a big secret and I can't stand people that create drama just for the sake of it (I know of few of those too).. we've made it VERY clear for quite some time that we'd like to go back to Italy... Hubby and I still have quite a few friends there and we had such a great time there that it's inevitable we will end up there someday! We traveled and made wonderful friends and it was really a great experience... but we discussed it and we really don't think it's for us again right now! We so love being close to our families and having G know his cousins and grandparents and aunts/uncles that we just don't think it's the right time in our life !! It's a very small base over there(almost too small) and we know that some people that we're not particularly fond of are trying to get orders there as well(umm yeah we have friends in DA and doesn't it seem strange that knowing where we preferred to go they'd want to go there too..hmmm very interesting) and coupled with not really wanting to do a HUGE move again so soon we've decided to stay put in AMERICA for the time being! The drama of having to deal with certain people for another 3 years constantly is just not my cup of tea(even though it seems to be theirs) and the relationship I have with my family and friends is just too important right now! So for the few of you out there begging us to stay stateside it seems your wish will be granted... now where to go..where to go... well to be honest we won't decide that until Erik reenlists this summer... I will say that it will be somewhere my ex husband is NOT!!LOL We will not be going there again! In fact, we may go in exactly the opposite direction.. (I know I'll get a few attagirls for that one!) It's strange enough going to an Airborne ball and having someone of a very high rank mentioning his name 2 feet from me(yeah YOU hear your former last name and not turn around and stare-especially when it's not in good context) without me being slammed in the face with it every time I turn the corner to make me want to move to Timbuktu(oh yeah he'd like that) but really just to not be anywhere near him or his new family or have to hear the mention of my former name is good enough for me...I'm not a girl that lives with many regrets but 7 years is a BIG regret! Also the Airborne community being as small as it is I fear that someday my husband being a lower rank would get stuck under the ex- (though I don't fear it for long the way my sweetheart is moving on up)..of course we've been told we can request a transfer of companies(that'll be fun explaining why) but just not something either of us feels like dealing with!!! So we'll figure it out within the next few months, keep the ones we love posted, and get some mandatory schools taken care of in the meantime! That's right ranger school is right around the corner.. wish us luck(lol)!!!
I was visiting my best friends this weekend in FL and I got to see the rangers preparing to paddle across the bay to spend the last night on the island before they finish swamp phase and ranger school and I thought..that will be my honey real soon! He's such an army boy and I adore him! But 62 days? that's going to suck!! I guess I'm supposed to stay home and NEVER leave the house.. well too bad... I didn't spend my entire pregnancy with my husband in Iraq fighting for these stupid liberals in this country for me to sit at home on my ass... so G and I will continue to lunch with the ladies and attend hockey practices.. we will continue to laugh at all the stupid people in this world that have no idea they're stupid and then he will nap... I will read... Gosh the more I think about it and the more I see other people parenting, the more I realize I'm a FUCKING great mom!! And before I get jumped on for cursing I do not do it in front of my son!! Let's see I offer guidance, the chance to see the world, INDEPENDENCE, a free reign on the house, self respect, oh and wait... I stay at home with him and don't let others raise the child that gave me 10 who who stitches.. YEP I QUALIFY... I ROCK!!! I'm so glad that someone pointed that out to me.. I was starting to doubt myself.... NOT!!!
So I did some karaoke with my MOMS club last night... I must admit I was a little disappointed that the other girls didn't do any solo acts like me.. that's right I was up on stage singing my heart out...and they sat back and drank beer (uh oh moms aren't supposed to drink beer..lol).. I'm going to practice the high notes and go back next month for an encore.. I'm a fan of Super Nanny. I know a lot of things about quite a few things.. parenting is NOT one of them! However, I think ANYONE with some common sense CAN raise a child quite successfully... as long as you don't read Dr Spock books (quack quack quack) and you establish a parent/child relationship (and not a friend/child relationship) one has a chance to succeed in the world as a parent! It seems that every parent on that show lacks common sense and they all want to be friends with their kids.. ok listen... your child doesn't need a friend.. they need someone to teach them..that means teaching them boundaries and limitations as well! I had a conversation with someone quite recently who believes in taking their child everywhere..something I'm opposed to!! I do NOT think that kids should be exposed to everything and I think that there are places I want to go where not only do I not want to deal with my kid but everyone elses... I am a strong believer that adults should have their own time for multiple reasons... when I take a break from my child and return to him I am refreshed..meaning I can look at things from a fresh persepective..I'm not so tired and beat down to his constant touching and grabbing and running... it makes me a better parent!! Also, I think the more my child is exposed to other people the better off he'll be when he goes to school, the better he'll deal with other kids, the less he'll be attached to me.. that's a hard fact.. studies have proven over and over that kids that get away from their parents more when they're young are less stressed when they start school and in dealings with others! I don't consider it "dumping my kid off" on others.. I think that it's giving us both a well needed break!
I waited until I was 31 to have my first child.. I was strongly opposed to having a kid in my 20's because, simply put, I think that people don't know enough in their 20's to procreate! Life experience is a HUGE part of being a person and a parent and the 20's are when you get that life experience.. I know that some of you out there agree and some will hate me for saying that but it's how I feel! I went to college, traveled the world, worked some, played LOTS, and I'm so much more laid back now and happier with who I am as a person that I'm so glad that I waited! I know I get the argument- well that's you.. and that's right but nothing anyone says will convince me otherwise... I'm a better parent b/c I waited.. some people though just really shouldn't EVER procreate.. some of these parents on Super Nanny allow their kids to run the show, mouth off, beat up their siblings, etc.. and the parents don't do a damn thing about it! Of course, the nanny doesn't advocate spanking but teaches the parents what to do instead.. I don't think spankings should be used in most cases but I have no problem giving my kid a wallop if he needs it! My parents did it to me and my self esteem and self worth are great! I was not abused or neglected and I was taught respect...
Then there are the parents out there that think their kid never does ANYTHING wrong... you know the one that brags and brags about how beautiful, talented, blah blah blah their kids are and you know damn good and well that if the kid really is that great it probably didn't come from the parents genetics or that's the kid that's hiding in the bathroom smoking weed during lunch break! These are the parents that set themselves up for failure or have no idea how to react when their kid comes home and states that he or she is either gay or pregnant!
It's funny, I know this certain person that talks about her kid ALL the time... her child is so wonderful and glorious (you know the one) and yet I know that this girl is the WORST parent in the world and she doesn't even raise her own kid... she's a self centered and even worse self-righteous blow hard who preaches GOD GOD GOD and then leaves her kid elsewhere while she tends to her current family.. really sad!! If something ever happened where my husband and I weren't together anymore, my son would be with me forevermore! New husband, other kids, a big move, whatever!! Leaving my son behind would NEVER be an option and I think that parents that do that SUCK!!! Why have a kid..why not adopt a dog? There is no argument for it.. better schools, delicate age, yada yada yada... that's your kid and he or she needs to be with her parent more than she needs to stay put!! I do know that I have one chance to be a great parent to my child and I intend on doing a great job!!!
Ok well enough of the soap box for the day! MOMS night out is tonight and I can't wait to karaoke..woohoo! Until later

Fear and Loathing in Columbus

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU HAPPY BDAY TO YOU HAPPY BDAY DEAR HEAHEA HAPPY BDAY TO YOU!! Ok does that focus on you enough girl? I owe you one PITCHER of MARGARITAS..or better yet Malibu, pineapple, shot of cream? You let me know.. Erik will buy...
Hunter S Thompson dead now? Fear and Loathing in Columbus is what I've become and after the hate mail I'm sure to receive after that last Columbus Ledger article I wrote (it was a little anti-liberal) I'm sure that Salman Rushdie, Osama, and I will be hiding in the same cave somewhere (I just hope they've bathed- middle eastern men tend to stink)... oh well.. they don't drown witches in wells anymore (if they did a few of you out there that I know would've been gone LONG before I) so I'm not worried.. but it's sad that Mr Thompson was so haunted by demons he felt the need to kill himself! One of my closest friends right out of high school committed suicide and more than anything I felt sad that he was so unhappy that he would do that! I mean on my worst day I just need a stiff drink.. not to find a gun and end it!
Just finished a great book for those out there that care... The Devil in the White City was my weekly(I attempt one a week and that is why I'm smarter than you- ok kidding!) and it was a great historical account of the Chicago World's Fair and the serial killings happening at the same time... I think that Honeymoon with my Brother(about a guy that gets left at the alter and takes his brother on a honeymoon for 2 years) is next on the agenda unless someone else recommends something... I'm still trying to get the courage up to read WAR and Peace (one of the few classics I haven't read) and my Jane Austen book of novels... someday soon!! So enough for now.. to all a wonderful evening, week, month... I have friends visiting, an AIRBORNE ball, and a going away party being thrown at my house this weekend.. oh yeah we're going to be partying on! I'm glad that I'm married to someone younger that can keep up with me..lol..
So, being the superstitious Irish girl that I am, I believe that bad things happen in THREES.. 2 bad things have happen both directly and indirectly to my husband's AIRBORNE company in the last month and I just pray that nothing else goes bad! First, an Airborne student dies (the first in 15 years).. Second, a former Delta Company Airborne instructor (who was there the first month my husband was there and then left and went to Kelly Hill/3rd Brigade) was the first 3rd Brigade soldier killed in Iraq... his name was David Salie and not only was he recently a blackhat, he was also one of my husband's AIRBORNE instructors back in '97 when he went through.. he left behind a wife and 4 kids.. how tragic! So, what next? Nothing I hope and pray but the Irish in me is just waiting! My best friend joked that the third bad thing that will happen is that my ex husband will end up being stationed at the same base as us AGAIN and I'll have to run into him every time I turn a corner... ok NOT funny! But also not possible... my husband and I are going some place that my ex can't (kind of nice that it worked out that way) .. it will be nice to be able to go shopping or to join clubs and to not have my past staring me in the face all the time!! Can't wait until 2006!! WOOHOO...SO still waiting for the third... OUCH just stubbed my toe on the way back from the potty... maybe that's three!!
Well time to let the whirlwind begin... but first I want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY FRIEND HEWO(she's my hero)..I can't wait until the 30th one so we can get that trip to NYC knocked out... oh and looking forward to visiting Music City with you real soon! Jen- get better SOON!! Oh and I saw the pics you were telling me about... yes they are fake and no she doesn't eat..lol.. and to my new cousin Mer.. keep your chin up..we'll be drinking margaritas REAL soon!!

Happy Vday

Well I had hoped that it would happen later than sooner(or never if possible) but the 3rd Brigade of the 3rd ID has recorded its first casualty.. in case you're wondering, that's the unit stationed here in Columbus.. I pray for the lost soldier and more importantly now his family here in Columbus..
On a lighter note.. Valentines Day was wonderful... I happen to have THE most romantic and wonderful husband in the world and to me everyday is a celebration but red tulips will make this girl smile ANYDAY.. forget the roses... we're going to continue our celebration of Valentines Week (as he called it) up in Atlanta this weekend! Dinner at our favorite Italian cucina.. a night away from le bebe... a few drinks with my Irish posse at our favorite pub... the AIRBORNE ball is right around the corner so I must prepare my liver now... well for that and my trip to NY for ST PATTYS DAY!!! My favorite holiday is right around the corner and frankly, I can't wait! I'm so looking forward to being in a place that actually has some culture for a change (sorry west Ga and east Alabama you're just not cutting it for this city girl) and wearing my Jimmy Choos out and drinking with people that have accents(alright I already do that much in Atlanta but it even more fun in NYC) Oh and catching a play.. can't wait can't wait!
So I finish today by saying Happy Valentines Week to all.. Godspeed 3/3... and to my friends that are pregnant with girls.. I think Steff is a lovely name.. lol

Goodbye Arthur

I am in serious mourning right now with the death of one of my all-time favorite playwrites, Arthur Miller. Not only was he an absolute genius at the translation of the literary word to the stage, but he spoke the language of the common person. He was the literary world's Ghandi and a talent that will live on in the written and spoken word forever! I will end this with one of his best quotes.... "Maybe all one can do is hope to end up with the right regrets" Godspeed Arthur Miller- you will be missed by this literature major!!!!

Orders orders orders

Yeah I know the Eagles lost! Who cares really when important stuff like Prince Charles getting married is the hot topic... I mean forget about the nukes in North Korea! Not really news or too important... we should've wiped them off the map years ago.. probably another reason why I'm not president!
So as always some things have changed in our military life! We were certain that we were getting orders to Italy when some "things came up"... some of you out there know how that goes in the military.. we are excited about what else is going on.. can't really say right now but it's big for my husband(in terms of his career) and I'm excited for him and us... we're going to end up being a lot closer to home and I know in my heart that we will get back to Europe someday soon! Actually, I'm happy it's not right now.. I want Gavin and the future Wolfert to enjoy Europe and learn something from the experience..not just remember it by seeing pictures! Also, now that my best friend is pregnant, I want to be here so that our kids know each other! That's so important to me.... so many exciting things going on.. sorry haven't been blogging lately.. They want to up the death pay to $400,000.. I wonder how much the life insurance is on congressmen and women... don't you wish life insurance was really on how much some of those senators are worth? I mean if Barbara Boxer died her family should receive $5..that's about all she's worth.. Diane Fienstein- same thing, maybe a little less... Ted Kennedy- his family would owe the United States of America... John Kerry- upon his death his family should be paid in cases of ketchup... Jimmy Carter's family- payment in peanuts (ok I know he's a president but he's still a liberal)..there are a few others I could think of personally but I'm not going to get nasty in case BIG BROTHER is watching.. Lord I'm on a roll tonight.. I think about the friends I've lost in Iraq, the one in Afghanistan, the few I've lost in other places in the military since I've been around and I don't think that $400,000 is enough... actually no amount of money is really enough but military families sacrifice so much while the service member is alive.. don't you think the ultimate sacrifice is worth a little more?

Hillary passes out.. Italy's almost assuredly going to be our next home... we requested it through branch and now we just await the official orders... but we're pretty sure we get to go back to where our great love affair began! So then we start getting these emails like "Vicenza imposes a driving ban for 7 days"..that's right folks... how do the Italians tackle air pollution? Do they get rid of leaded gas? NO.. Do they require catalytic converters? Only after everyone else has for 20 years... Do they require factories to stop blowing smoke and gas into the atmosphere? Hell no.. Once again the Italians go the backwards way.. they impose a driving ban throughout the city!! Now can I just tell you that most of military housing is NO WHERE near the base and there is NO base housing... public transportation in the smaller cities is a once in the am bus and once in the pm bus... none of this O' dark thirty crap the military requires! And let me assure you that this isn't just a military problem! As much as Italians ride their gay little mopeds and their bikes..they love their FIATS... park 'em for a week baby..no cars for ANYONE but polizia and EMS... gotta love those Italians... can't wait to get back there.. The US was good in going ahead with its Iraq plan because in my opinion the UN is so corrupt that it really couldn't tell us objectively what we should do with the WMD probe! The UN was too busy taking bribes for the Oil for Food program (to include Kofi Annan's son) and allowing Saddam to get richer by skimming money off the top of everything... the UN knew that if America went into Iraq then the jig was up... they would be found out to be the corrupt organization that they are(diplomats taking money and getting rich off of people starving) and people would lose faith in them... I lost faith in them years ago when Rawanda asked for help and the UN refused to step in! The genocide that followed made the Nazis look like candy stripers... but did anyone do anything? Hell no! Isn't it funny how America always comes off as being greedy.. I mean all these people that think there were never WMDs in Iraq surely think the only reason we were over there was for the oil... little do they know that there are WMDs buried deep in the desert AND the greediest of all are the people that are involved in the world's watchdog group- the UN! The UN sucks and the sooner the US cuts all ties to them..the better we are!

The wild wild west

Ok listen..just to set the record straight before people think I'm this heartless bitch.. I AM NOT LAUGHING BECAUSE SOLDIERS ARE DEPLOYING... anyone that knows me knows that I spent my pregnancy alone and my husband almost didn't make it back in time for the birth of our son! However, anyone that's been around a military town before a deployment must find some humor SOMEWHERE! Along with the many sad things..i.e. leaving families, pregnant wives, missed bdays, etc... there are some also comical ones. I'll explain. Has anyone out there watched wild west movies? Well, that's what Columbus has become. Some soldiers think it's their mission to drink and screw as much as possible before they leave. I went out in Columbus this past weekend and witnessed fighting in the streets and ugly girls getting laid by the droves.. sounds like a bad western to me...and yes it WAS comical!
Onto my next statement...Godspeed 3rd Brigade... in fact my husband's cousin is deploying, a few friends are leaving, a few friends are over there now and my Marine is still in Fallujah.. I know what it's like to have friends die, to have my husband gone, to miss someone so much I thought it would kill me...I as a military wife understand that..but there are a few out there left that don't.. I know a couple of people that STILL haven't deployed and as much as you really don't want anyone to deploy, well, it's their job and the fact that some have gone a few times and none at all just isn't fair! Spread the angst I say!! The Army says that it's spread thin and that it has to redeploy certain units AGAIN b/c it needs boots on the ground... my way to deal with it is this... if you've been to war there should be a mark on your record..if you haven't you should go directly to a unit that's deploying and get your year over with.. I know some instructors that have been hiding out for years.. in fact- I bet I could fill a company alone with the people I know that haven't deployed! Just a thought..I'm sure someone out there will have something to say!

airborne!

SO, another Airborne class has started and already over 100 people failed the PT test... nice waste of tax payers money if you ask me! My husband and I were discussing it the other day and we think it's time to move on... screw this stabilization crap.. we love the adventure... Alaska's opening up a unit and there are about 6 guys we know volunteering for it.. the thought came up but I'm not sure I could handle THAT much cold! So we're waiting for that elusive Italy slot so my husband can stay AIRBORNE and we don't have to do the Bragg thing(the shopping doesn't hurt either)... thank God he's not one rank higher or we'd have an even harder time... next year might be very different! So not much else going on! Friends from Ohio coming down so we're going to go out and laugh at all the guys getting ready to deploy that feel it's their need to fight and screw...always a fun time... until then.. ciao

Govna's mad about the tele lineup..

So I must say that I was upset that my favorite show on the tele...Arrested Development wasn't on tonight..WHAT GIVES? Happy 2005!!!Betcha thought the holidays had killed me huh? Well between getting stuck in a BLIZZARD in western KY(and in a DRY COUNTY I might add), my wonderful trip to Chicago (I'm moving), and visiting the grandparents at the retirement center in Davenport, Iowa..I must say that we had a very eventful Christmas and New Years holiday! All in all a wonderful time was had by my entire family..getting to visit friends and party some in Chicago(oh how many Irish pubs can one city have?), spending New Years Eve here wasn't so bad either(ok so it wasn't NYC), and of course just being with my husband and son.. couldn't have asked for a better holiday season!
So many things happened though that weren't so great! The Tsunami that killed so many innocent people, the fire in the Brazil nightclub, the bombing in the mess tent in Mosul. Our family prays that the world becomes less violent and people step up and do what they can to help... I see that Sandra Bullock donated $1 million to the Red Cross for Tsunami Relief... now you've heard my opinion about Hollywood but WOW! What a great person she is! How many others in the land of implants and lipo will step up as well?? We shall see!
So many of my friends are pregnant right now that I'm beginning to wonder what's in the water?!? It almost makes me not want to return overseas again for fear our children won't know each other..but I'm assured by all parties that won't happen! In any case it will give them a chance to come and shop with me in Europe(hello Harrods)! So, it's looking more and more like that's where we're headed... my husband gets one more chance to reenlist with base of choice and we had so much fun in Italy..it will be a little different this time because so many people that we had fun with the first time are gone...but still so many are left...Shan and JC you up for going back? Won't be the same without you...
So resolutions for 2005? I already talked about the trash thing... that's pretty much it! I'm not going to let certain people bother me anymore! I'm divorcing myself of anything to do with rubbish and people that talk it! I'm becoming less involved in some things and more involved in others... it's quite a peaceful feeling! I think I've let petty people get me down one too many times(unfortunately there are so many military wives like this) and being in a town that's borderline hickish I'm sure doesn't help(sorry if you're from Columbus and you love it here- I said borderline as in Alabama) True some might say I went to school in Alabama but north AL is a whole other world! Although I cook and tend garden like a true southern belle- I'm a YANK at heart!
So happy 2005 to my friends and family! I love you all more than you'll ever know and I can't wait to meet all these babies...

My kind of town..Chicago

Ok so every few months we've been visiting different towns for a good time and this weekend we're headed to CHICAGO!!! Can't wait to get out of Columbus and have some beers at a real Irish pub!!! The last Airborne classes graduate tomorrow...no more jumping for the rest of the year~ woohoo!! We're off to Gibsons and Harrigans... Jilly's and Navy Pier..can't wait to see my best friends and do a little throwing down... plus did I mention that I can't wait to get out of Columbus?? Actually this town won't be bad in about a year...but until then..it sucks and I will leave as much as possible and continue to explore the world... NYC is next in March and then who know...maybe the west coast while the hubby's in Ranger school...or FL to visit my best girlfriend... she needs me right now (right A??) or Boston to visit friends at Harvard...hmmm maybe New Orleans for Mardi Gras...so many possibilities...any ideas?? SO until my next blog and details of our wonderful trip..have a nice holiday and new year... CHICAGO HERE WE COME...YOU'LL NEVER BE THE SAME!! After much deliberation I've decided that this year's moto is "taking out the trash". That's right! No more will I associate with people I don't want in my life. No longer will I let people in that aren't loyal and kind. I plan to rid myself of all bad things and focus on only the good! Too many trivial things(and people) have burned me out lately and I just won't have it anymore...so goodbye trash..hello 2005! It's going to be a GREAT year!!

Holiday cheer

So much lunacy in this world it's hard to understand sometimes! I've been sick twice now and have been trying to catch up on everything due to these illnesses. Let's hope it's all in the past and I can get on to some holiday paryting! I'm headed to Chicago this weekend and I'm so excited to get out of podunk Georgia..you have no idea..dinner at Gibsons...drinks at Jillys..blues bars and dancing..and our anniversary of course...should be a lovely time!
So if I don't have too much time in the next few weeks to blog then I'm sorry...to each and every one of you Happy Holidays...to Kevin and Ali..I'm so excited for your news and Congrats from all of us here...words cannot express my happiness for you both! I've been writing political articles for our local paper and getting quite a bit of good feedback... Journalism is NOT something I want to pursue...in fact I think that most journalists are nothing better than gutter slime...but when I get fired up about something I have to speak out...
I recently saw a special on Fox News about India Company in Fallujah. It was really an amazing piece of journalism(you won't hear me say that often) that chronicled the taking of Fallujah by a specific marine company. (I have a vested interest in the Marines there because my adopted marine is in Fallujah.) Even though I am a diehard Army wife, I believe that there is something so different and amazing about Marines! They are harder(and at times a bit crazier) in their loyalty to their country and their corps . It's something that can only be understood by other marines! This India Co. kicked down doors, killed bad guys, and fought side by side for days until the city was cleared. In the process, it lost a few men. One marine died the same day his wife gave birth to their son. As a woman whose husband was in Iraq during my pregnancy my heart broke for her!! It brought back all the anxiety I felt for those 8 months last year! The waiting to hear from him, the checking my mailbox every day for any word, the wondering if uniformed men would show up at my door to give me the news...I lived it every day and I cannot describe what it was like to live it! I was blessed enough that my husband came home. This woman will never see her husband again and this child will never know his brave father! God bless them both.My thanks and total admiration go out to India company, the marines, and ALL the soldiers serving this great country!!(Matt- cookies are on the way)
All else is well in the Airborne world...soldiers are coming down on levy left and right and we're praying to get through it unscathed! There are enough soldiers that haven't been deployed ever and have spent their careers dodging deployments that the Army really needs to go after at this point! Instead the same guys seem to be going back to Iraq while others hide out as instructors, drill sgts, and recruiters... the Army needs to get smart! My husband always says not to worry because come time for advancement these jokers aren't going to have the experience their counterparts have..and that WILL hurt them! Hmmm let's see... an E6 with combat experience, awards with valor, a mustard stain, and great NCOERs OR an E6 with no combat, a bunch of schools, and lots of instructor time.. yeah we'll see... Delta company graduated their last bunch of jokers for the year... support week doesn't suck as bad... leave is right around the corner...Chicago here we come!!
Oh well until next time... stay safe America!!!

GO ARMY BEAT NAVY

Well it's jump week again in the land of Delta Company AIRBORNE! That probably doesn't mean a lot to most of you out there, but it means a long, hard, and often frustrating week for those black hats . You see, Joe, for the most part, isn't very bright and trying to teach them to exit aircraft safely can be a challenge. A week without injuries is what we hope for and that these young men and women take the knowledge of this school with them into their airborne units.
Well thank GOD Thanksgiving is over. Don't get me wrong- I love the holidays! However, this year with strep throat and infections of the salivary and sinuses it wasn't exactly a day at the beach! It's hard to go home for the holidays and NOT drink! I'll admit it- the Irish in my family comes out every holiday(and quite a few non-holidays) and we like our drinky quite a bit! Laying on the couch, however, watching everyone get drunk and slur their words is quite the different story! I realized- I don't like these people! AWWW I'm kidding... they're a fun group...but trying to listen to my husband explain a west coast offense after about a 12 pack of Guinness put into perspective for me what unconditional love really is! It was good to see the siblings!
So ARMY-NAVY plays this weekend! That's a game I've always wanted to go see and now that I have family there maybe next year it will be possible! My husband is from a town that's about 10 minutes from West Point and if you've never seen that campus well then you just haven't lived! It's amazingly beautiful! It's strange though just how many fools one campus can produce in terms of bad officers. It's like there's a syrum there that makes them egocentric A-holes! Despite that, I always root for Army(unless my few West Point friends are around and then I root for Air Force..lol) and we need to beat the Midshipmen this year....
So, it looks as though we might get our way after this assignment and end up back in Italy. We've decided that there is so much more there for us to see and we have good friends that are Italian that are begging us to come back for a few more years so we're going to do it! I really like Columbus but Europe is our path for now and the further away from my ex and his family I am the better. Mama doesn't like drama! A few of my friends laugh at me and tell me that we'll all probably end up in Italy together(just my luck)...Lord I hope not! I've told everyone I know where we're going to make sure that they know NOT to end up in the same place! Ok well enough for now! GO ARMY BEAT NAVY!!!

Barhopping NUNS

Ok- at this year's annual Jones Thanksgiving we had a few new additions to the table. My sister's boyfriend, Willy Fletch, who is a great addition to the family, was present along with my brother's girlfriend,Meredith, and our old friend FREEBORNE, my husband's old saw gunner. Willy Fletch was also a soldier of my husband's in Iraq- so the boys got together and talked about stuff they blew up, terrorists they ambushed, and MREs....ummm mmm! It was fun! Drunken do ya remembers... So we did the thankful part of the evening and I just thought I would share! Besides being thankful for the obvious (Vietnamese girls to paint my toes, Ernest Hemingway novels, etc..) here are a few specifics: I am thankful for my boys- they are the best thing that's ever happened to me! I am thankful for my family and their health(esp my parents)! I am thankful for sisters(to include my sister from another mother- ALI)- they are my best friends! I am thankful for the soldiers that protect our country and it's interests every day! I am thankful that my adopted soldier Matt is safe! I am thankful for my life and health and that God gives me the strength every day to be a good mother! I am thankful for Guinness and college football! Finally, I am thankful that I have people that love me despite my flaws, that love me unconditionally, that stand by me no matter what, and that they are there for me to love back!!! I would be lost without such wonderful family and friends! I hope that our new additions to the family stick around and that there will be many more additions in the years to come! Also- Rene and Matt- I am so excited to meet Maddy... I'm so happy that you're getting your girl!! You are blessed!!

Roll Tide and Arrested D

So another Iron Bowl gone by and another year of bragging rights for those pesky tigers but this BAMA fan has a little something to say! If all the number 3 team in the country can do is beat Bama by 8 points...a team that was 6-4, doesn't have its starting quarterback, running back, or receiver then they don't DESERVE to play in the title game. It is that simple. A win is a win and I will give them that. However, they didn't beat a very average team very convincingly and so I don't believe, undefeated or not, that they deserve ANYTHING! When Alabama wins..they WIN! Alabama has 10 National Championships for a reason... ok so next year Tigers..Brody will be back and we'll get ya then...
So, not much else going on in my life! I ran into a bunch of hippies protesting the School of the Julios out on friday... Although I usually don't agree with the left, I do not believe in tax payers money going to support foreign officers.. after all we trained Manuel Noreiga there and we all know how that story ends.. I'm really sick of our government handing sh*t out and training soldiers from countries that end up turning on us..yeah story of America's life! Oh well just my opinion..until later...Arrested Development is on...

Iron Bowl is coming

Ok folks... contrary to popular rumors out there I did NOT fall off the face of the planet (although some of you I'm sure would be quite happy with that)... ME HAS A LIFE..unlike some of you rambling fools that have NOTHING better to do than blog... I've been very busy the last few weeks taking care of business, entertaining, traveling, etc... with much more of the previous mentioned coming up. My great friend, Jana, has decided to grace me with her presence from the wonderful state of OHIO this weekend so watch out COLUMBUS, GA... the girls are going to be tearing up Broadway. It's also the weekend of the Iron Bowl- that's the Bama versus the other Alabama team(won't say the name it's a superstition thing)- that's a major deal in some of our lives..ok so college football fans are losers..whatever... all I know is that Bama needs to pull an upset out of its ass this weekend!! Either way my 1st annual Iron Bowl Extravaganza is happening on Saturday and I CAN'T WAIT!!
Another AIRBORNE class is underway so seeing my husband during ground week is a no-go..he's becoming a kinder gentler sgt airborne due to whining recruits and officers that can't hack AIRBORNE school! That's right... OFFICERS that can't pass the PT test and have nothing better to do than write their congressmen! And the women that come through.. LADIES...if you want to play in a man's world- don't cry when you can't do a pull up or run a mile in 8 minutes..do what I do..stay home, bake cookies, and look beautiful for your hubby when he gets home... but while you're at home- READ everything in sight and then stimulate him with conversation, intelligence, and wit... just a thought.. I have no problem with women attempting to keep up but whining and changing the standards when they can't really undermines the mission and puts my husband at risk...of course this isn't just a woman thing..it's an idiot thing... there are men that can't run or do pull ups either! Oh well enough babbling for now...have a great day and pray for my soldier MATT(Semper FI) who's in the middle of some hot SH*T right now...God bless the USA

Soldiers Angels

OK 2 of my favorite blogs are Dog Snot Diaries and Blackfive. I make no secret of this. SO when they ask for help for someone I jump on board. Blackfive has a series called "someone you should know". One of the soldiers highlighted this month is Sgt Joseph Bozik out of Ft Bragg. Sgt Bozik lost his legs and an arm in a land mine explosion and his family needs help to stay with him in DC. They need donations. Now, for the three of you out there that read my blog, you can go to Blackfive's website and find the addresses to donate or send a card or you can donate through www.soldiersangels.com one of my favorite organizations and the place I found my adopted soldier. Listen, even if it's $5.00 you've done something good for someone.
On another note..if you don't have much money and yet you want to feel good about doing something and make a soldiers day...adopt a soldier through soldiers angels... Mine is Sgt Matt Wolfe and I'm so glad that we're friends now and I hope that my letters and care packages make a little difference in his life... and some people think I am soooo evil!

ROOOOLLLL TIDE roll

So things are good here at Ft Benning. My President was re-elected, Thanksgiving is coming, and another airborne class has graduated! Things are good(until next week when a whole new group of idiots goes through). My Alabama team beat Mississippi State last night..next on the agenda LSU and Auburn..wouldn't it be nice to knock off an undefeated? I am surrounded here in Columbus by Auburn fans and it's a little annoying because they act like they're big time! Come on now..everyone with a brain knows that the SEC is the hardest conference. I'll give Auburn their kudos that they've done a good job this year. They will never compare to the University of Alabama in football though. Bama has 10 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. The big argument from Auburn fans is "when was the most recent one?" Well AU fans I challenge you? When was the last time Auburn won a national championship? HMMMM waiting..waiting..waiting... yeah that's what I thought. Bama has more football tradition than almost any school out there(Notre Dame fans can talk shit..no one else can!) and that's why so many great players choose to go there! Regardless of what happens the rest of the season...Mike Shula has done a great job and we're bowl eligible(see you in late Dec/early JAN)...I love my CRIMSON TIDE!!!
So not much else going on in la la land...things are great...hubby and baby are wonderful as always and all my deployed friends are safe this week...Hubby's working hard for Ranger school coming up soon and possible selection so he's got the endorphin high going on(which is lovely for me)..also a big shout out to our friend KevO who made the E8 list...just remember the little people when you're SGM of the Army...

Rock on George W!!!

Ok so it seems that the only win that Massachusetts can pull out of its ass these days is the Red Sox winning the World Series... jeez isn't that enough?? Well thank God that the people of the good old US of A didn't let me down! My guy W came through with flying colors and I would just like to say to all of you NO BRAIN liberals out there to include Michael Moore, Bruce Springsteen, Ben Affleck, all the rest of Hollywood, terrorists, Osama(you get your own mention) and most of the music world.... HA HA HA HA!! The fact that you, Hollywood, endorsed someone is the reason he lost and I just want to thank you for that! Most intelligent Americans DO NOT want the advice of some theater geek that someone gave a break to! We want Hollywood to get their massages, buy their expensive cars, make a public appearance for charity, act, and keep their mouths closed about politics...keep pretty and shut the hell up...after all I wouldn't go to a gynecologist to clean my teeth(I have friends that would though!)... SO hopefully we won't have to hear anything else from stupid liberals, Hollywood, or John Kerry for quite a while!! Idiots...SILENCE!!
So, I am a very happy woman today! Thank you OHIO! I was published, once again, in our local Columbus paper on Tues griping about the biased media and the lies that democrats have started about Bush! It was an amazing article! I drove to Alpharetta to vote(about 2 hours away) and one man in line was shocked at my "dedication" to voting. I told him that my husband went to Iraq and Kosovo so that people over there could choose their leader..many of my friends have done the same in Afghanistan, Bosnia, and many other places... voting is something that we take for granted in America because we are free...but it is SOOOO important...
I do hope that Bush does great things with these next 4 years. I hope the economy keeps heading up. I hope that we as a nation achieve peace in the middle east and win the war on terrorism. I pray that Iraq holds free elections and that we withdraw our troops in a timely manner.
On a different note... I have many friends and a relative leaving again for Iraq within the coming months...I wish them Godspeed... I am a little annoyed that the same people are going back to the big sandbox while others have never gone at all... I think there should be a system in the miltary that shows how much time you have in combat and if you haven't been you get sent to a unit that's going(sorry)...some of these guys have gone back to back to back tours while others sit on their ASSES in garrison in "teaching or drill" slots... it's bullshit! The army needs to start being fair about this...but in the meantime we'll take the promotions ahead of the ones that haven't gone! Thank you!
Well those are my ramblings today... THANK GOD that Daschle is out and Kerry wasn't that close! This week needs to hurry up and be over with! I am really sick of the liberals in our local paper whining about EVERYTHING...
Now, onto the Red Sox... this amazing team is one win away from breaking the curse... this is something that I hope happens in my lifetime but I'm not counting St Louis out until the last out of the last inning of the winning game... crazier stuff has happened before!
Well not much to say today except I hope that my friends in Kuwait and Iraq are doing well and staying safe... you are loved and missed by many

Patrick Swayze sucks!

So Patrick Swayze thinks he knows about the Middle East because he's been raising Arabian horses for 20 years? Holy shit..I've heard it all now. Another example of just how stupid Hollywood liberals are! I mean for the past year we've been subjected to everyone from Baghdad Sean to Michael Moore...Ok so it's one thing that I have to listen to Hilary Clinton and her stupid ass..along with Al Gore(he looks like the momma from What's eating Gilbert Grape) and another Kennedy(haven't they managed to all kill themselves yet?) but I've voiced my opinion on how much I hate Hollywood..I mean would I go to an opthomologist for a hemorrhoid??Hardly...I hate Hollywood so much that the next movie I see will be Team America(puppets are the only actors I can stand).. come to think of it I hate the whole west coast..
So I visited a very interesting website today...informational and hilarious..great combo..but I must say that they believe that Southerners 1) go to bed early and 2) can't drink... so I invite them to Columbus, GA Home of the Infantry and of course me... they were in Helen, GA which is a fun place during Oktoberfest(not Munich Germany though) but being in the Bible belt they have to understand that stuff closes down early.. these damned Baptists down here are ruining good drinking for us all... We're not all that bad down here in the south though... after all this southern girl is a HUGE BoSox fan(making out with Varitek in college has nothing to do with anything I swear)...

I'm wicked smart

OK so there's obviously someone out there who has me all wrong and I'd like to set the story straight. I am by NO means a devout Christian(and therefore I feel that I can bad mouth others in good conscience). I go to church once a month and on Christmas and Easter..I'm sorry if this offends you but I just feel that organized religion for the most part is one of the most corrupt companies out there. I am a Christian by birth and I believe in God but that's about it. I am who I am. I am not a hypocrite or phony...I am not one of these Baptists that surrounds me singing the praises of Jesus on a Sunday and then drinking it up at MOMS night out on a week night! I like to drink and have a good time...Sometimes I get drunk..Most of the times I have one or two, smoke a few cigarettes, and have a good time... Anyone that knows me KNOWS that I above all else am a good time... That's my goal in life and I've achieved it!! WOOHOO!
As for bad mouthing people... Tough crackers... If I don't like you I'm not going to pretend to be your friend...For example, I do NOT like my ex... He's an insecure, domineering little man that made me miserable for a long time(not to mention spread some pretty vicious lies about me)... Am I over that? As much as I will ever be! DO I like him? Hell no... He owes me an apology, my parents money, and 7 years of my life back... When I see him I ignore him! I hope that he's changed his life for the better and I hope that he's happy now but he still owes me an apology!(I know I hold grudges, how unchristian like of me!) However, I noticed that in criticizing my life and who I am aren't you being a bad Christian? After all (and this is why so many Christians confuse me) if you have more than a few drinks, have sex for more than procreation, curse, are mean to ANYONE, have too much pride, and Lord knows I can go on and on..Aren't you sinning? There is a girl that I know well enough that's guilty of all these things and yet she's a good Baptist girl(or so she claims)...hmmm doesn't make sense to me,..If you really are a good Christian shouldn't you, in fact, keep your opinions to yourself, have glorious thoughts about everyone and have NO enemies(including Alabama fans).. yeah that's what I thought! Kind of defeats your whole criticism of me huh?
Ok so sometimes I do those survey things that people send me. My sister in law usually sends them to me and they ask questions like favorite flower, favorite movie..whatever...so I sent one out a few days ago to quite a few friends and one of the questions was "what one quality about the person that sent this to you do you most admire?" and I'm not kidding you it was like a 50/50 split of "intelligence" and "she knows how to party" (with the occasional "she rocks" , "spontaneity" and "can always talk her way out of every cop situation"thrown in there- thanks J that's 3)..I am flattered... I guess I knew these things about me- I'm wicked smart if you don't know me yet!(ok modesty was NOT one of the qualities) but it's nice to know that I'm loved by some of the greatest people in the world... I love my friends!
For those of you that know me, my 32nd birthday was wednesday..thanks for all the wishes and to answer one of your questions, yes I am still amazed that I've lived this long... my bday was amazing..big party this weekend with all the Airborne instructors that we're friends with and if you're in town come join the kegger (already asked God's permission and he said go ahead and have fun)...if not then I will drink one to ya(Renee- 5 more months and we'll have a beer..lol) Have a great weekend!!

Kerry the hunter??

OK, so we're less than 2 weeks away from the elections and I must say that I can't friggin' wait. If I have to hear John Kerry on t.v for too much longer I'm going to shoot myself and end this misery. Ok, so now he's a gun toting hunter? I hope and pray that this was a halloween costume that I saw him in today but I'm pretty sure that most duck hunter costumes don't come with an authentic dead duck. That's pretty funny.. a dead duck holding a dead duck! People out there in the world...please don't let the likes of Michael Moore, Susan Sarandon, and Baghdad Sean get their way!! My husband's military career depends on who becomes president. What many don't understand is that John Kerry runs his mouth about adding 40,000 more troops to the army by recruiting(if he becomes prez), but he doesn't count on all the troops that are going to get out of the military if he becomes president... so many middle career NCOs- the backbone of the military- are going to leave because they don't respect how Kerry has treated vets, how he's voted against miltary incentives, how he won't protect the troops OR this country...
On a lighter note... my two college football teams FSU and Bama are doing great! FSU(with Rix out) looked like the team of old in the Virginia spanking last week and Bama beat a strong Southern Miss... now we need to beat Tennessee and Auburn... I really hate Auburn..so much so that if my son told me that's where he wants to go he'd have to pay for it himself...my money will never go to redneck breeding ground...Do you know what AUBURN stands for? Alabama Usually Beats Us Rednecks... ha ha ha ! I'm in a town full of Auburn fans and I tell them all the time.. unless you're a Notre Dame fan then you can't talk sh#t because only they have more national championships than Bama..how many does Auburn have? Oh yeah that's right... none! God, I love football season!
Oh yeah and I love the Boston Red Sox... have since high school...unfortunately I married a Yankee fan( we won't hold that against him) so imagine my delight last night when the BoSox SPANKED the Yanks...I hope this stupid curse thing is broken and the Sox can go all the way FINALLY! COME ON BOSTON!!

I love October

So, for those of you that don't know me October is my favorite month. It is not only my son and my birthdays(and my best friends), but the weather is fabulous, the world series is on, college football is in full swing, and there are pumkins everywhere.Plus I get to snuggle with my husband a lot more because it's not so hot! I love this month!!
I went to a costume party earlier today (and besides having to see my ex-husband for a period of time) it was a nice time. I love seeing the kids dressed up and playing around. My son was a pirate (kind of an ode to my favorite football team- the Bucs) and I must say was awfully cute. Much cuter than the average child(I'm sorry but I'm a proud parent with a beautiful child). Still, all the kids were cute in their getups...(I would usually say right here even the ugly ones but I don't want God to punish me more than he has to already)
Yeah yeah yeah so I'm mean sometimes...get over it!
So, one of my liberal friends called me tonight and we talked a little about the elections. This is a girl that I completely respect(except for her political choices) but we had a nice discussion about abortion, stem cell research, and a few other political hot topics that I as a Republican break away from my party to support! I guess you can say that I am more a moderate or new Republican because I am socially less conservative than I am fiscally! I know this abortion debate has been going on for years but as a Christian I believe that the soul enters the body at the first breath. Until then, it might be a living organism but it's not the being that we know. I know that there are a lot of conservatives that disagree with me but I'm sorry. Going back to the days of back-alley butchers does not cut it(no pun intended)! It seems to me that many value the unborn child more than the adult child..why is this? Abortion needs to be kept legal and safe and another thing... it should NEVER NEVER be a decision made by ANY man ANYWHERE at ANYTIME! PERIOD! Sorry, men make enough decisions without telling women what they can and can't do with their bodies!! Ok well that's my politics for the night!
I wish each and every one of you out there(even those that don't agree with me) a wonderful October...enjoy the weather, pumpkins, football, and snuggling!! I sure will... and for those of my friends far far away in the land where sand gets in your crack too often...pumpkin bread is on it's way with love from Georgia!! Oh and a shout out to Ali..HAPPY 31st chika... I LOVE YOU!!

thoughts for the day

I can't even believe that it's been a week since my last blog... I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off and so busy that even my nemesis noticed that I wasn't around as usual...how weird is that? Ok so we're in the final countdown to the elections.. I sat through the debate again last week and don't think I can stomach it again tonight! Listen people, if you don't know who you're voting for by now you're either 1. a real dumbass or 2. not the person I want in a foxhole with me because you'd have to see the whites of the person's eyes that's shooting at you before you'd shoot back(which makes you a dumbass)! I mean these debates aren't telling me anything that I don't already know. Let's refresh it for all you flaky folks out there. John Kerry is a rich new -England senator with a long history of tax and spend. He's been in the senate for over 20 years(which makes him a career politician) and he must rarely make it to this job of his(not sure why) because his record of voting is deplorable! Oh yeah, he married rich and pretends he knows the plight of the poor man (along with the Iraqis and minorities) better than they do... isn't that funny?? Also, he claims to support the troops but has voted time and time again against military pay raises and incentives.
George W Bush, on the other hand, is also a very wealthy man. However, he doesn't pretend to be something that he's not! He's made decisions that haven't always been right, but he's been a strong leader and stood by decisions to help others out because he's a man of principle. He has strong moral courage and integrity and he knows how to be a commander-in-chief. We've had a regular pay raise under him, along with VA reform, housing upgrades, weapon upgrades, and other incentives.
OK there's my version of the political Cliffs Notes. You may not all agree and frankly I couldn't give a fat rat's ass. I know who I'm voting for because, well, this election to me is a NO BRAINER! George W Bush is NOT Ronald Reagan. However, I'd rather vote for the devil I know than the devil I don't and until McCain runs well Bush is my choice...

Stupid is as stupid does Part deux

OK I'll admit it.. I like Europe a little bit! It's a nice place to visit and the history is something that every American should experience. However, I've found on my many visits there(and my 4 years living there) that they are mostly an arrogant continent! Americans get accused all the time of being overly-proud and arrogant and we are to many of them the stupid Americans. We help everyone when they need it- whether it be financially, through humanitarian efforts, militarily, and yet we are still not good enough for our older cousin! So, it was with great delight to me when I found out that the EU in all of it's arrogant glory left the whole country of Wales off it's yearbook map. Ok, so Wales isn't that big (but thank God for it and my Grandpa Jones), but it's like the US cutting Florida off it's map! Do they not have people that know where or what Wales is? Did that great country not give us both Tom and Catherine Zeta-Jones(no relation to me that I know of-but hey maybe we're all related over there)?? Is it ignorance or lack of proof readers in Europe that led to the mistake? Either way, it makes me realize that they're not as hot as they think they are... America might have our share of idiots(Michael Moore, John Kerry just the first two that pop into my head) but we are not alone... Idiocy is universal...thank GOD!

I'm still alive...barely

Can you believe it? I made it home alive (much to the dismay of some I'm sure)... Vegas was all that I thought it would be.. seedy, intoxicating, exciting... my husband and I were able to spend some much needed quality time by the pool at the Flamingo and we saw old friends that we hadn't seen in a while... and while our wallets are a little bit lighter (thanks to that damn roulette table) and are heads are a little bit heavier (not to mention that I sound like Doc Holliday with this smoking cough now) it was worth every waking second that we were there(and a few passed out ones)..I will cherish the moments(from the Springer wedding to my friend Charlie's toast) and the great times FOREVER! Also I will tell any of you that might be visiting Vegas anytime soon... although the Flamingo was great the Hard Rock Casino was an absolute blast..it's motto is Rock, Roll, and Hedonism(or something like that) and I have to say that my friends and I lived up to that! I'm already counting the days to our Vegas reunion next year!
SO as I sit here in my home watching the VP and that smooth talking trial lawyer debate all I can think about is how this country is SO screwed if Kerry/Edwards get in the white house... John Edwards is a great trial lawyer..I mean after all he's won millions of dollars by basically being an ambulance chaser... but a VP? I was blown away when Cheney said that he'd never met Edwards before tonight... HOLY smokes... that guy really has missed a lot of votes huh? I think that our senators should be made to go to their jobs or we should be able to FIRE THEM... Hey Kerry and Edwards...YOU'RE FIRED!!

Vegas BABY

OK for those of you who know me(or at least think you do) you know that one of my favorite all time movies is SWINGERS...thanks at least in part to my best friend Ali and all those quotes(by the way you're so money that you don't even know you're money BABY)...so my dream is coming true this week and I'm headed to VEGAS BABY...this is not an invitation to rob my house (I have an alarm and a HUGE Doberman) but simply a confession that deep down in this sweet southern soul is a Vegas show girl dying to get out..I want to be Siegfried(but not gay or German)...I want to wear sequins and do high kicks...I want to shake my booty under the big lights...I want to be friends with Elvis impersonators...ok so I'm strange! So you might wonder what's taking my husband and I to Vegas and I would tell you one of my least favorite things in the world...a wedding! I hate weddings..not for what they represent at all(I am a romantic at heart) but because they usually last too damn long(lots of catholic friends) and I ALWAYS end up crying and looking like shit the rest of the day(that coupled with a lot of alcohol does not do me well). Still, this is an unconventional wedding in Vegas so it might change my mind (if only they were getting married by an Elvis impersonator)...I am excited to see so many of our ARMY friends that we haven't partied with in a while and hit the blackjack tables..also the hotels we're staying at have the nicest pools and swim up bars so we will take full advantage of that... and the best part of this trip..NO KID!!! WOOHOOO! (sorry peanut) Mommy and Daddy get to be all alone to party, drink, and do (ahem!) whatever else we can out there for 5 days!
Weddings always make me think of the two times I've taken the trip down the alter(yes two..shut the hell up)..my first marriage I have NO pictures of(thankfully) because we did the courthouse thing and ate Mexican afterwards and we were really too young and dumb to actually be married so I chalk that 6 and a half years to drunken stupidity and moved on...However, the second time I got married it was one of the greatest days of my life...I have so many pictures of friends and family in NYC(where we did it) and I have so many great memories of that day that I will never forget... Even though my first marriage was a mistake if I hadn't stuck it out as long as I had I might not be where I am and with the person I'm supposed to be with...so I can't even regret too much being with my ex... but now that I'm with the right person and everything's such a great fit, it does make me a little sad that I didn't find my soulmate until I was 29..but at least I found him! I hope this marriage that I'm going to works out..they're such wonderful people and they've been apart for so long(they are both military) that I'm just really rooting for them! Also they went through his injury in Iraq and her extended deployment in the same country but miles and miles away so something needs to go well for them...
So I'm out of here until next week...I might get one more blog in before I leave but with friends in from out of town and packing, I'm up to my eyeballs in chores...I'm sure I'll have much to say when I return(George Bush kicking some ass, John Kerry sucking, Buddhists dying at the hands of Muslims in Malaysia) you know the usual..but until then... I'M GOING TO VEGAS BABY!!!!

Beer for soldiers

My brother from another mother Blackfive: the paratrooper of love recommends this site and I have to admit it's beyond genius..check it out if you get the chance... www.beerforsoldiers.com When they have that party...I'm there...

Stupid is as stupid does...

And so it still bothers someone even more that I have a world audience...Listen, I have no problems with the liberal view point... I think 4 years as house boy at the White House will be good punishment! Or hey even at my house. Someone recently addressed their whole blog to me and my "misconceptions". I just want to take the time to thank you, my world audience, for reading my stuff and in some cases becoming so infuriated that you feel the need to devote your blog to me. I love hate mail from ignorant people!
Ok onto my ranting...someone says to me that "John Kerry was in the Navy so he can't me anti-military". RIGHHHHHT! And I have some beautiful ocean front property for you to buy in western Iowa sweetheart. I think throwing his purple hearts over a fence in protest(even though it was a "symbolic" gesture) and buddying with Hanoi Jane qualifies you as anti-military. His position has simply changed now b/c it's not popular to be anti-military. HMMM Kerry changing positions? NO WAY! SO that just shows me the naivete of Kerry followers..never thought they were too smart to begin with...

Why do we even bother?

Ok so I'll come right out and say that I'm more of a nationalist than anything. I do not believe that we should be helping all these other countries out..I think that America should come first. I would NOT make a good President for this main reason. My Domestic policy would ROCK! My foreign policy on the other hand would be non-existent. With that said, I think Bush tries his hardest to get other countries to understand where we're coming from in our WAR ON TERROR. We've helped so many people in the past by giving them money, soldiers, humanitarian help...whatever they needed and now it seems the world turns its back on us. September 11, 2001 was just 3 years ago. America was attacked on her own soil. Innocent lives were lost for no apparent reason and did the world really come to our rescue? Hell NO! I am so sick of people not being able to make the link between Al-Qaida and Saddam Hussein...Ok folks..Let's play 6 Degrees of Saddam the AHole...it is a WELL KNOWN Fact that Saddam hates Israel and its allies(uh that would be US!)...Saddam has offered thousands of dollars to people that want to become martyrs for the Muslim cause(blow yourself up and I'll buy your family a TV set)..Saddam has offered his country as a training ground for terrorist groups...Saddam has gassed his own people(those poor Kurdish bastards)...what is this friggin' BLUES CLUES people? I just bet you if we took a giant metal detector to that big sandbox Old Dirty Bastard calls his backyard we'd dig up all kinds of stuff we weren't supposed to find! I mean it's like this..Just because no one ever found Hoffa's body does that mean he isn't dead? Liberals keep whining where's the link? We have no proof of WMDs. There's no link between Saddam and the terrorists..are you kidding? Saddam was the biggest terrorist around and if people can't see that then they're dumber than I thought!
Also, just a few months ago John Kerry said that anyone who did not believe that removing Hussein from power had made Iraq safer did not have the credibility to be the President...hmmm really...can we hold you to that? Flip flopping again so I see Mr Kerry!

HMMMM CBS lied? Shocker!

Holy cow..how many out here in blogger land called this one...CBS is now recanting it's entire story about Bush and his National Guard days...they're admitting that the documents might not be authentic(well No Sh#t Dick Tracy)...I say fire Dan Rather and his producer and that would satisfy me...oh and a personal public apology to the President to be aired on national television! Yep..time to move on liberals...got another story you want to make up?
Ok so a few people have pointed out to me that story that Yahoo broke yesterday about the $87 billion that Congress hasn't been spending to rebuild Iraq, etc, etc... the article said that only about $1 billion has been spent and why? and blah blah blah...ok listen people...there are such things in the military called contracts(remember the liberals screaming about the one with Halliburton?) Contracts aren't usually paid in full the day they're awarded. It's like when you write a check...only it takes quite a few months to clear instead of a few days...there are processes that these companies have to go through(hiring of manpower, ordering products, etc)...I know this because I've worked for one of these companies..so the $1 Billion isn't exactly true...it's a media twist...you know what those are?? If you don't check out the CBS website...they like to twist and screw things up a bit so it seems...
My house survived Ivan the Terrible...seems Ivan wasn't so bad for Columbus after all...my friends in Fla were lucky too...no damage to them and the PLUS side was I got to spend almost a whole week with our best friends! YEAH! I realized while they were here that I'm a really lucky girl to have such amazing people in our lives(I've known it all along but it was nice of them to help me remember why I love them so) We had a lovely time..playing cards, drinking beer... Airborne Family Day was saturday and A and I decided to get drunk and crawl through the caterpillar thing and then ride the train around... it was just like old times...gotta love those kegs they provide the families... oh well until tomorrow

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://ssgairborneswife.blogspot.com/2004/09/hmmmm-cbs-lied-shocker.html' title='HMMMM CBS lied? Are they friggin' kidding? Liberals are the most in-your-face, shove their opinions down your throat people out there. If you don't agree with them, then they scream, yell, curse your family, whatever it takes to insult you. I thought liberals were supposed to be tolerant. I thought they were supposed to be respectful and understanding because after all this great country supports different religions, beliefs, ideas...I guess I was wrong in trying to put a good stereotype on liberals! They seem to be to be aggressive, almost angry, with a political agenda that stoops to lies, lies, and more lies. They recruit the Hollywood types(Oh how I hate you Michael Moore and Barbra Streisand), the media types(yeah Dan Rather I do blog in my pjs but I'm still smarter than you!), and the rich, new-England, out-of-touch with the world types(that would be you, John Kerry) and yet part of their mantra includes slamming on the upper class. Ok wait now, that's one stereotype that they're ignorant on! I'm not upper class(maybe at one time I was -but not now married to a soldier) and I don't think having conservative views makes you upper class(although I think we're way classier that the liberals). I think they should change their name to the Crazy Party!!

John Kerry- the anti-Christ

OK problem solved but not without complication... as my title reads- some enlisted wived have brains and I've always considered myself one of them but obviously NOT when it comes to computers... Somehow I've managed, in all the copying and pasting and adding to my blog, to delete all the stuff I needed to post..not even sure how it happened but I would write and was not able to post...so I started fresh...my name is similar(I went ahead and gave my husband the promotion that he's had for over a year now) and my message is the same... John Kerry is the anti-Christ! I'm sure I'll attract the same group of liberals that hated my last blog and I can't wait for them to find me... until then AMERICA I'M BACK
